Before you can make stuff people want, you have to figure out what people actually want—which is harder than simply asking them.

In this follow-up to How to Make Stuff People Want, Yvonne will dig deeper into design research: how to learn from real people, uncover what is really going on, and identify needs that people may not be able to explain themselves.
 

BIO:
Yvonne Lin is an award-winning designer, innovator, entrepreneur, and educator with more than 20 years of experience creating products and services that people love. Her work spans industries from consumer products and sportswear to healthcare, technology, and entertainment, with clients including Nike, LEGO, Hasbro, UNICEF, Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, OXO, PepsiCo, Nissan, and American Express.

Yvonne holds more than 20 patents, has been recognized as a Master of Design by Fast Company, and is the founder of 4B Collective and the Femme Den. She also owns Urban Air Concord, where she combines innovation with community engagement. A former Director at Smart Design, she has taught at Parsons School of Design and serves as the YoungArts Foundation Design Chair. Yvonne earned degrees from Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design.

When she's not designing or mentoring, Yvonne shares her creative side through cakes, costumes, and other playful projects on Instagram @eatyourmonsters.
